The DataGalaxy extension can automatically detect when a Power BI report matches an object in your catalog. Instead of searching for the right catalog object yourself, you open the extension on the report and DataGalaxy finds it for you.
You can also keep a matched object on screen while you browse other reports, to compare information side by side.
What happens when you open the extension on a report?
- If DataGalaxy finds an exact match between the report and a catalog object, that object is shown directly in the extension.
- If DataGalaxy finds several possible matches, the extension opens with a list of search results showing those objects, so you can pick the right one.
This saves you from having to search for the matching catalog object yourself every time you open a report.
What is the "Report automatically found" banner?
When you open the DataGalaxy extension on top of Power BI, a banner appears to let you know about this feature.
- The banner appears above the match whenever an exact or partial match is found.
- You can close it at any time using the button.
- If you select Don't show this again and click Got it, the banner won't appear again afterward.
How to pause automatic matching
There may be times when you want to keep a specific catalog object displayed while navigating to other Power BI reports or pages — for example, to compare information side by side.
- Click the target icon. Automatic matching pauses, and the extension keeps showing the previously opened object instead of switching to a new match.Screenshot: the target icon used to pause automatic matching. (Re-add this image here — the original Freshdesk link expires after a few days.)
- Click the target icon again to resume automatic matching.
