Manage Teams

Create, update and delete teams, set their access type and owners, manage members, and handle requests to join a team.

Teams are created and managed from the client space administration: an administrator can add, update and delete teams, choose how open each one is, appoint owners, manage members and handle requests to join.

To learn more about the notion of team, see Teams presentation.

Who can manage teams?

To manage teams, you must be a client space administrator. To check whether you have these rights, go to your profile and open the drop-down menu: the Administration option should appear. If it doesn't, you are not an administrator.

To learn more about the administrator profile and how the permissions and licenses provided by DataGalaxy operate, see Overview of License Management.

How to access the team management page

  1. Click on your profile icon in the top right corner of the screen.
  1. Click on Administration in the drop-down list.
  1. Click on the Teams section in the menu on the left of the screen.
  1. Once on the page listing the teams, search for the team you want to view, edit, delete or whose members you want to change.

To display more information about your teams, click on the 3 bars at the top right of the screen to manage the columns of the teams table.

How to manage teams

Create a new team

  1. Click on the + (Create) button at the top right of the screen.
  1. A modal appears. Fill in the Team name, Access and, optionally, Description fields, then click on Create.

3 types of access to the team are available:

  • Private access: only the members added to the team can consult its card.
  • Limited access: all users of the client space can consult the team's card and ask the team owner to join it.
  • Open access: all users of the client space can consult the team's card and join it without any request to the team owner.

When a team is created, its creator is automatically assigned as the team owner. You can still change it. You can also add more than one owner to a team or, if need be, have a team without an owner (but this is not recommended).

To learn more about the team owner's role, see Teams presentation.

Update a team

  1. Click on the team you want to edit in the team list.
  1. Update the fields in the team's card that opens on the right of the screen.

Delete a team

  1. In the team list, click on the 3 small dots at the end of the team's row (you can also check the box in front of several teams and use the 3 dots at the top of the list). The menu also offers Edit, Clone, Export and Import.
  1. Click on Delete.
  1. A message box appears: confirm the deletion by entering the name of the team to be deleted. If the team has members, they are removed from it.

How to manage access requests

All administrators of the client space can check and manage access requests to teams, even if they are not the owners of the team.

To identify new access requests to a team, the system shows a blue dot in front of its name in the team list.

To manage a new access request:

  1. Click on a team with a blue dot in the list of teams.
  1. Click on the Members tab in the team card that opens on the right of the screen.
  1. Accept or refuse the request for access to the team.
