MetaBot, the suggestion engine, guides you in classifying your data by labeling objects through tag suggestions and by identifying the sensitivity of the data. For more information, see MetaBot.
Where can you find the suggestions?
MetaBot suggestions are available to contributor users, and can be found:
- At the attribute level in the object card
- In the MetaBot tab of the service panel
- In the suggestions panel
In the object card
Suggestions are visible directly at the attribute level in the object card, and are represented by the flashing MetaBot icon, which indicates the existence of new suggestions.
If you accept a tag suggestion, for example, its value is added to the list of selected tags in the tags field of the object card.
You can also reject a suggestion, for example a DCP (personal data) value. In that case the MetaBot icon disappears from the object card and the total number of suggestions in the docking panel decreases.
In the MetaBot tab of the service panel
The suggestions are also visible in the service panel, on the right-hand side of the screen, in the MetaBot tab, represented by the MetaBot icon showing the number of new suggestions.
The suggestions in this panel are sorted by suggestion type:
- Tag suggestions, for tag attributes, whether it is the system tag attribute provided by default by DataGalaxy or the custom tag attributes created by the client space administrator.
- Data class suggestions, related to the sensitivity of the data.
As with the attribute in the object card, you can accept or reject a suggestion. You can also accept or reject all suggestions in bulk with the buttons that appear when hovering over the suggestion type.
In the Suggestions panel
All suggestions are centralized on the Suggestions page, which you open from the navigation panel on any screen of the platform. On this page you find all the suggestions for all the objects in your modules, for all the workspaces you have access to (use the All spaces selector at the top to focus on one workspace).
If new suggestions are pending, MetaBot flashes. If you open the panel, it stops flashing even though not all suggestions have been answered.
The page is split into tabs. The two used for data classification are:
- The Tags tab, which contains all the tagging suggestions.
- The PII tab, which contains all the suggestions relating to the sensitivity of the data (PII classes).
The other tabs (Links, Glossary and Descriptions) contain MetaBot's suggestions of links between objects, of glossary objects and of descriptions.
How can you narrow down the suggestions?
Each tab offers a filter on the workspace, so you can display only the suggestions for a specific space. If your space is versioned, you can also filter on the version of your choice.
In the Tags tab, you can filter on the tag that covers your area of expertise, to display only objects with suggestions related to that tag. For example, if you work in Marketing and only want suggestions related to this field, apply the Marketing filter.
In the PII tab, you can use the PII Classes filter to filter on the sensitivity class of your data. For example, if you are only interested in classifying sensitive data, select this value in the filter to display all suggestions related to this class.
How do you accept or reject a suggestion?
The suggestions with the highest confidence scores are shown at the top of the list. Each suggestion shows its confidence score, and you can accept or reject it with the buttons in the Actions column, or process the whole list at once with Accept all or Reject All. To load more, click on the Show more button.
Before accepting or rejecting a suggestion, you can open the card of the object linked to the suggestion without leaving the suggestions panel. This lets you quickly consult the object's general information, its related objects and its descendants. You can do this from the burger menu that appears when you hover over the suggestion line in front of the object's name, or by clicking on the object's line, which opens its overview with its various tabs.
After you accept or reject a suggestion, the suggestion line is grayed out and an accepted or rejected status is displayed, but you can still view the object's preview as long as you haven't closed the panel. The next time you open the panel, suggestions that have already been processed disappear and new suggestions are displayed.
