Interpret Global Activity Indicators

Interpret the eight Global activity indicators and understand how filters apply.

2 min read

The Global activity widget in the Analytics tab monitors global activity on the platform. It offers 8 key indicators as well as several analysis axes, displayed as filters that can be applied to the widget.

To learn more about how to access Analytics and how to edit the global activity widget, see Monitor Global Activity.

What each indicator counts

IndicatorWhat it counts
Object creationsThe number of objects impacted by a creation action. This includes manual creations, creations via CSV file imports and creations via APIs.
Object updatesThe number of times a user has updated an object. This includes manual changes, changes via CSV file imports and changes via APIs.
Object deletionsThe number of definitive object deletion actions, including objects deleted in bulk.
Link creationsThe number of actions creating links between two objects by users.
SearchesThe number of search actions made by users, on the global search page as well as spotlight searches.
Object visualizationsThe number of times users have consulted objects, including previews of object cards.
CommentsThe number of new comments added by users.
TasksThe number of actions by users to create new tasks.

How the filters apply

Not all the filters shown are valid for all the indicators in the widget:

  • The indicators are grouped by license type. The indicators on the first line of the widget (object creations, object updates, object deletions and link creations) only match the activity of Stewards and Explorers. Therefore, if a Reader filter is applied, the first line of the widget disappears.
  • The Searches indicator is not impacted by the filters on the module and object type.

Filters on roles and services refer to those defined in the user profile.

The filter on teams refers to the teams created in the client space administration. Only the activity of public teams can be followed.
