Managing attributes covers three things: creating an attribute, deactivating a value of a list attribute, and deleting an attribute.
To understand the concept of attributes, see Presentation of Attributes.
How to create a custom attribute
Administrators can create custom attributes that can be used on object screens:
- Click on your avatar to access the administration.
- In the drop-down menu, click on Administration.
- Go to the Attributes section.
- In the sub-sections, choose between a common attribute (available for all modules) or a specific module.
- Click on the blue
+button at the top right of the list.
- Select the type of your choice: Boolean, Date, Formatted text, Hyperlink, Number, Value list, Text, Tag, Multiple value list, User, and more.

- Fill in the information for the attribute in the side panel that opens on the right (label, description, recommended option, default value…). The attribute is created with a default name, for example Custom Property 6.

Good practices for defining an attribute
- Display name: the attribute name should be as clear and explicit as possible, because it is the one that will later appear on the screens for users.
- Description: it explains the context and appears when hovering over the attribute. It should therefore explain concisely the definition of the attribute and its usefulness.
- Recommended option: this option must reflect the importance or urgency of curating the attribute. If the attribute is recommended, it is included in the calculation of the completeness rate of your metadata, so it is preferable to have a reasonable number of recommended fields to track the curation of your metadata.
- Default value (optional): initializes the field as soon as it is created with the value of your choice. This is ideal to avoid entering the most common information.
How to deactivate a value
Deactivating a value hides it wherever it has been added in the object cards. The value will also no longer be visible in the list of available values on users' screens.
Deactivating values is available for all attributes of these types:
- Value list
- Multi-value list
- Tags
- Hierarchies
In a value list
- Open the panel of the attribute for which you want to deactivate the value.
- Go to the Values tab.
- Click on the toggle of the value you want to deactivate.

In a multi-value list, a tag or a hierarchy
- Open the panel of the attribute for which you want to deactivate the value.
- Go to the Values tab.
- Click on the pencil button of the value you want to deactivate. An edit window for the value opens.
- Click on the toggle.
- Confirm your choice by clicking on the Update button.

In this window, the Activated toggle is at the top; you can also edit the value's label, description, color and keywords.
How to delete an attribute
As an administrator, you can delete a custom attribute to make it invisible to the entire client space.
- Click on your avatar to access the administration.
- In the drop-down menu, click on Administration.
- Go to the Attributes section.
- Open the attributes of the module of your choice.
- Click on the attribute you want to delete.
- Click on the Delete button in the Details tab of the attribute panel (shown in the screenshot of the attribute panel above), then confirm with Delete.
