Creating an implementation means specifying, for a data definition, where the elements that make it up are stored. It's therefore a matter of linking one object of the Glossary module to one or many objects of the Dictionary module.
Which objects can be implemented?
| Glossary object | Can it be linked? | To which granularity? |
|---|---|---|
| Universe | No | N/A |
| Reference data | Yes | Database, table, field |
| Concept | Yes | Database, table, field |
| Business term | Yes | Database, table, field |
| Indicator | Yes | Database, table, field |
| Dimension | Yes | Database, table, field |
| Domain | No | N/A |
How to create an implementation
- Go to the Business Glossary.
- Click the object of your choice.
- Click the Implementation tab.
- On the left, click + to add an implementation.
- Fill in the type in the window that opens, then search for your object.
- Validate. A link appears on the screen.

The search only works on object types that can be implemented.
You can use the implementation suggestions proposed by DataGalaxy to make managing implementations easier.
How to import implementations
You can bulk edit implementations in two ways:
- Through the import of sources (see "Import properties from a source").
- Through the import of a CSV file.
The CSV file requires these mandatory fields:
- Property Path: the object path, meaning the object it's attached to. If it isn't linked to other objects, the path looks like
\Employee. If it's linked to one or many objects, it looks like\Parent object\child object, for example\Employee\Address.
- Property Type: the object type (concept, universe, domain...)
- Model Display Name: the name of the implementation database
- Model Type: the type of the implementation database (database, Filestore...)
- Table technical name
- Table type
To import a CSV file:
- Go to the Glossary.
- Open the ⋮ menu of the module and click Import.
- Drop or browse your file in the CSV File zone, then click Start Import.
- In Select the items to import, choose Glossary > Linked Objects, then click Next.
- Check the field mapping.
- Click the Import button to start the import.

In this example, the file uses the linked-objects columns SourceEntityPath, SourceEntityType, EntityLinkType (is implemented by), LinkedEntityPath and LinkedEntityType.
How to delete an implementation
You can delete the implementation of a property in a column.
- Click the Glossary.
- Click the property for which you want to modify the implementation.
- Click the Implementation tab.
- In the workspace, hover over the column for which you want to delete the implementation and click the contextual menu to the right of the object's label.
- Select Remove the link to this object.
